Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

We started day 3 with us pulling into the coast of Cabo San Lucas. Unfortunately, there isn’t a cruise port in Cabo, so we were required to “tender” to get to the port. If you have a port excursion booked with Disney Cruise Line, you will be told where to meet your group, as indicated in the DCL app. We were not in that case, so we were told to meet at the Walt Disney Theater at 9 am. We were given a sticker and asked to wait until a tender was available. It seems that the official excursions have priority of using the tenders, and people in our situation would fill in with any available space. It appeared as if Cabo has a LOT of tender boats and there was a steady stream coming to the Disney Wonder. I would bet we only waited 10 minutes before we were asked to follow a crew member down to the appropriate place off the ship.

Boarding the tender boat, to head to Cabo San Lucas

It was about 10 min on the tender boat, to get to the port at Cabo. It provided an opportunity to have a great view back at the Disney Wonder.

When exiting the port, we were immediately greeted by MANY locals offering tours, dining experiences, and ssouvenirs. I never felt unsafe at all, but they were definitely very persistent. If you haven’t done much traveling, it may be a surprise.

We were very blessed to have the opportunity of going out on a boat with a friend, to go tour the harbor, see the sites, and go whale watching.

Whale Watching in Cabo San Lucas

It was a fantastic day and the whole family enjoyed the adventure. There were a lot of restaurants surrounding the marina if you are looking for food at the port.

We found our way back to the tender port, where we had to show IDs and our Keys to the World cards. There was a tender available and we walked right on to it, with no waiting. They even had some wet towels to clean our hands and freshen up before getting on the tender.

By 1:30 pm, we were back at the Disney Wonder and ready to relax for a little bit, and enjoy the pool again. When we got to the staterooms, we found our reminder that tonight was Pirate Night!

Dinner: Pirate Night – Animators Palate

Animators Palate on Pirate Night

It was time for the Pirate Night of our itinerary, and it brought us back to Animators Palate. On the screens around the restaurant, they showed concept art related to pirate movies, particularly the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. It is important to note that this dinner would not include the same animation show that we had previously at Animators Palate.

Pirate’s of the Caribbean Party

After dinner, we made our way upstairs to the 9th level for the Pirate Party! The party consists of lots of music, dancing characters, and fireworks! It was quite cold and windy that night, so we were worried if the fireworks would actually happen. Thankfully, it wasn’t an issue and they did the full display over the water.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania

Buena Vista Theatre schedule on the Disney Wonder

If you are a fan of Marvel films, you would have likely seen (or looking forward to seeing) Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. Most films on the Disney Wonder are shown in the Buena Vista Theatre, and they are often showing films throughout the day. For some reason, Disney chose to not show Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania in the Buena Vista Theatre until Thursday and Friday. HOWEVER, they were showing the film in the Walt Disney Theatre on Wednesday evening! They clearly anticipated it being highly viewed, as the Walt Disney Theatre has much more capacity, and they were going to be showing it many times over the remainder of the cruise.

Our family had not yet seen Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, so we made sure to head to the viewing after the Pirate Party. If you sail on the Disney Wish, you can dine at the Worlds of Marvel – Avengers: Quantum Encounter. This dinner opportunity makes use of “Quantum Cores”. Interestingly enough, they had Quantum Core sippers available at our concession stands on the Disney Wonder. Annika is a pretty big fan of the Ant-Man and The Wasp stories, so I sprung for the souvenir sipper!

We really enjoyed the film, and it was fun to see in the bigger theater!

That concludes our 3rd day aboard the Disney Wonder, but we still have a couple days more to share! So, check out Day 4!
