Day 4 of the cruise brought us to the port of Nassau. We took a poll of the family, and everyone decided we should spend the day exploring the boat, and skip the port. This was, at least partially, motivated by the recent Department of State Travel Advisory for the port. While we didn’t have a strong concern, related to that advisory, I think we were all just ready for a mellow day and doing some relaxing. Regardless, it is always a good idea to at least be aware of any Travel Advisory that may be in effect for your destinations.
Duck… Duck… Goofy?
We had brought some ducks along to hide on the ship. There has been a lot of discussion about this activity online, and so we leaned toward putting them more in people’s Fish Extenders than anywhere else. This was a great way to check out the many different door decorations, fish extenders, and other fun things that people did for their staterooms.
Wonder while you wonder!
Continuing our relaxing day, we went walking around the decks to see more of the ship. It was a pretty quiet day outside, as it was a bit windy and cool (validating our choice to stay aboard). This meant there was plenty of outdoor seating on some of the lower decks.
Drew felt the need to demonstrate proper use of the chairs. If only a 4-year-old knew how to relax like that!
Vanellope’s Sweets & Treats
Eventually, our adventure led us to Vanellope’s Sweets & Treats, on the upper deck. This is one area of food that is not included with the cruise and must be purchased.
While looking at all the treats, we discovered “Ralph’s Family Challenge”.
Ralph’s Family Challenge : INcludes 6 Scoops of ice cream, 6 toppings, whipped cream and a cherry. Served in a take-home souvenir trophy cup. $19.95
This seemed like the “challenge” our family could get behind! It feels very similar to the “Kitchen Sink” at Beaches and Cream in WDW.
I would say that we completed the challenge with success, down to the last drop!
Relaxing in our own ways
At this point, people were ready to spend some time in the pools and eventually send the kids to the kid’s clubs. Everyone has their own way of relaxing, and this was a great day for everyone to do that.
Dinner – Enchanted Garden
For dinner, we returned to the Enchanted Garden, but it was their standard menu this time (Pirate Night last time).
As usual, lots of options to choose from!
Appetizer | Applewood-Smoked Bacon Wild Mushroom Tart |
Salad | Romaine Wedge |
Main Course | Slow Roasted Prime Rib |
Dessert | Southern Style Pecan Tart with Caramel Sauce |
Evening
Sadly, we were approaching the end of our cruise, which meant we had the gratuity information and envelopes. These items were waiting with our towel animals, which seemed to be a pig and perhaps a crab. Any guesses?
